"MAY" FOREVER - LSD SERIES

Dear Reader,

Yesterday was the last session of the Love, Sex, and Dating Series that was organized by the BIG Singles group in our local church, CCF (Christ Commission Fellowship) and it was really a month-long learning and understanding about the various topics of the series. I'm really glad that my friends, Donnie and Shari, accepted my invitation to join the sessions, even with their busy schedules they really made time for the event. I invited other people as well, but due to their other commitments, they were not able to go. So to those who were not able to attend the series, I hope this summary would help you better understand this topic just like how it helped us too. :)

SESSION 1: LOVE AND THE RIGHT PERSON

This must be the most asked question out there in the dating world, "Is He/She the right person for me?" but during this session, we were taught about how there's no such thing as the right person out there. It's just a myth. Instead, the reality is we should become the right person first. Because when you become the person you're looking for is looking for, naturally, the same energies will gravitate towards each other. You'll just be shocked that he/she will just come around when you least expect it.

But we have to understand that we need to make sure that what we do now in our life will bring us closer to where we want to be in the future. As what Pastor Mel said during the talk; "The present will be your past, but it will be present in your future." I really agree with this statement because a lot of our past experiences, whether we like them or not, will really stay with us as we grow old. So before anyone of us would do anything drastic in our lives, we must think about it a lot of times so that we won't regret it in the end. The behavior of the right person when it comes to loving is best described in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 "Love is patient, kind, without envy. It is not boastful or arrogant. It is not ill-mannered nor does it seek its own interest. Love overcomes anger and forgets offenses. It does not take delight in wrong, but rejoices in truth. Love excuses everything, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

SESSION 2: THE PERSON I LIKE
This session was all about how our perception determines action, and how our actions determines our destiny. Before the session began, we had a quick test in order to determine our love language (I'll post a separate entry about this.) and I was really surprised to find out that my love language are Quality Time, Acts of Service, and Words of Affirmation. After learning that these are my love languages, a lot of things made sense by then. No wonder I appreciate just being with the people I love, even if we just quietly sit beside each other minding our own business. (hahaha love you siblings!! )

Sometimes, as humans, we also do things because we feel like doing it as of the moment, because that is what will satisfy us. But we were reminded to be intentional in our actions and be mature enough to be accountable of what we do. We were also given some practical ways on how to take care of our actions like erasing songs or videos that is worldly. In Romans 12:2 it says "Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world;but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God."

SESSION 3: DESIGNER SEX
"How can you give all of you, when you have already given away parts of you?"

This session talked about God's design for sex in the context of marriage, and how people should view sexuality. Nowadays, with all the things that the media has been feeding us, we have to remind ourselves that to treat sexuality as just physical is to just hurt ourselves and others. We have to remember that our body is the temple of God and that God's design for sex is : Intimacy, which is to know and be fully known. But Intimacy does not come without responsibility. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, within you given by God? You belong no longer to yourselves. Remember at what price you have been bought and make your body serve the glory of God."  Having this in mind, we must flee from sexual immorality, and instead grow intimate with our Lord through reading his word.

SESSION 4: PREPARATION TRUMPS COMMITMENT
Now this was the heaviest session out of the four because it dealt with the most difficult word to live by : COMMITMENT. As what Pastor Mel said, "Promises are no substitute for preparation. Just because you say "I do" doesn't make you capable, it just makes you accountable. And in not doing makes you miserable."  All of life is connected, that is why we have to pay attention to our habits. I am particularly struck by this statement because I've been dealing with my bad habit of being late and I hate that I am not consistent with my actions in breaking this habit and replacing it with a good one. I've had a phase in my life wherein I started sleeping early in order to wake up early but sooner than I realized, my old habit was back. (I know, so sad.) But I am continue to strive and pray that I overcome this one through self discipline.

And that's a wrap! (From Left to Right: Ate Rose, Abby, Shari, Donnie, and I.)

After the 4th session. Photos were taken using Donnie's phone. :)

Proverbs 14:8 "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of the fools is deception." We really have to consider our ways like the wise man, because our past ways are the best indicator of our future behavior. Because everything that we do today impacts our future.

With the ever-beautiful, kind, and lovely, Ate Pem. :)

Next Thursday, we have another topic to discuss and this time it's for free!! The topic for next Thursday is "One Love", so to everyone who is in Cagayan de Oro and wants to join, feel free to go and register at CCF in Papa Juanito's Square at Rosario Arcade, Limketkai.
